Serhii Martynko (born 1987 in Dnipro) is a Ukrainian ceramic artist and founder of Clayproducts Shop, whose work bridges ancient tradition with modern design.
Martynko grew up in Ukraine, a country where pottery has been practiced for thousands of years — not only as craft, but as an expression of culture, spirituality, and daily ritual. This heritage forms the foundation of his work, to which he adds contemporary techniques and a refined minimalist sensibility.
Fascinated by clay from an early age, he underwent formal training and became a master ceramicist. His work soon appeared in group exhibitions and began reaching international audiences, including collectors and buyers on Etsy. Alongside his artistic journey, Martynko earned a master’s degree in marketing — knowledge he immediately applied to developing a sustainable craft business around his passion.
In 2015, he opened his first studio in Dnipro. It became a space of experimentation and growth, and the beginning of Clayproducts Shop. But in 2023, the war in Ukraine forced him to close the studio and leave the country. Many of his works were saved — each carrying its own story and emotional resonance.
Martynko specializes in handcrafted tableware and functional home objects — simple, honest, rooted in nature. He views clay as a living, elemental material. His research spans historic household rituals and objects from different cultures, seeking the timeless and the universal. He prioritizes traditional, eco-friendly techniques, avoiding industrial glazes and chemicals. The methods are demanding, but the result is authentic — ceramics with quiet presence and soul.
Today, his work is used in restaurants across Ukraine, Poland, and beyond. Now based in the United States, Martynko has rebuilt his studio and continues developing Clayproducts Shop. His next dream: opening a pottery school for both children and adults, to keep this ancient art alive for future generations.
