A business aviation podcast has taken its production to new heights by recording a full episode while flying at 43,000 feet aboard a private jet, marking what organizers say is a unique milestone in aviation media.
The episode of The VIP Seat, a weekly podcast focused on the private aviation industry, was recorded in flight on an aircraft operated by the Memphis-based charter company AB Jets. The recording took place aboard the company’s Bombardier Challenger 3500, a super-midsize business jet recently added to its fleet.
Hosts Jessie Naor and Preston Holland produced the episode while cruising at flight level 430, demonstrating how business conversations and media production can take place seamlessly during private aviation travel.
“When AB Jets came to us with the idea, we immediately said ‘We’re in,’” Holland said, noting that recording a podcast at altitude was an ideal way to highlight the operator’s fleet expansion and create a memorable sponsor activation.
The in-flight recording also showcased AB Jets’ newest aircraft as part of a broader marketing initiative. According to company representatives, the flight lasted about three hours and covered roughly 1,290 nautical miles, with the aircraft tracing patterns in the sky during the activation.
The Bombardier Challenger 3500 is designed for long-range corporate travel, featuring a range of approximately 3,400 nautical miles, a top speed of Mach 0.83, and a cabin altitude of about 4,850 feet while cruising at 41,000 feet.
AB Jets recently expanded its fleet by adding three Challenger 3500 aircraft, marking a shift into the super-midsize jet category for the company, which has historically operated Learjet 60 aircraft.
Industry observers say the project reflects a broader trend in aviation marketing, where operators are moving beyond traditional advertising and using experiential content to showcase aircraft capabilities and onboard productivity.
The newly recorded episode is now available on major podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube, offering aviation professionals and enthusiasts a behind-the-scenes look at private jet travel and industry developments.
