Henry Gavilanez is a leading event marketing and promotion specialist who has launched events for thousands of people across the U.S.
Event marketing has always been a major way of gaining momentum and marketplace awareness for businesses, products, organizations and more. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic changed the event industry forever, and while many events and much of our communication has moved online, the event business is back up and booming, and people are looking for human connection more than ever.
A new phenomenon is emerging called “Zoom fatigue” where people are claiming to be tired of looking at screens. After spending the entire day on the computer, which is a reality for many everyday Americans, people are craving in-person experiences.
It’s easier said than done, however, and event marketing veteran Henry Gavilanez knows that all too well.
“There’s an art to pulling off a successful event.”
After establishing his own website where he shares insights and knowledge about marketing and event promotion, he has decided to expand his reach by teaching people about hyperlocal event marketing.
“The beauty of promoting events is that they have a hyperlocal impact and a profound benefit for the community. You can use keywords and industry-specific knowledge to drive traffic and engagement around community events,” says Gavilanez.
One of the most exciting parts of the business for Henry Gavilanez is teaching others how to create better events and bringing this industry knowledge to his own community.
“It’s a breath of fresh air, seeing that people actually are interested in a range of events locally, and all you have to do is generate interest, momentum and a sense of community.”
While there is more monetary incentive in hosting major national events, Henry Gavilanez says he goes back to his roots sometimes and endeavors to help small businesses, local values and community organizations launch better events.
“You might just be one event away from a major business success, a major donation, or even a breakthrough that helps connect community members with each other in a caring and supportive environment.”
When asked about the future, Henry Gavilanez says that while he hopes to remain in the event space as a marketing consultant and professional, he plans to expand into other industries in the future.
“Focusing on events alone is highly-specific, and I think that’s where I’ve seen most of my success energy. There is so much opportunity however, and I want to make a difference where I can.”
Gavilanez says it’s not just event marketing and promotion that he has learned and teaches others. It’s the skill of bringing people together under one roof for a common purpose, a common cause.
“You learn how to rally people around similar interests and goals, and these people support each other and bring the momentum you need. It’s really a ripple effect – bringing the community together, making a difference and then doing it all over again.”
According to Henry Gavilanez, the success is about more than just the uptake of the event, ticket sales and profits. It’s about making people feel better, even just a little bit, after they’ve attended your event.
