Working for large corporations during his beginnings in the talent recruitment sector made Chris Vasquez realize that his place was not among the tycoons of Wall Street.
His search for an industry where he could create a more meaningful impact led Vasquez to resign from his position in corporate recruitment and launch The Quantum Talent Group, where he now assists tech startups in building the future.
“You only know what you want to do sometimes when you figure out what you don’t want to do,” said Vasquez reflectively during a recent interview. “I worked with a lot of 50-plus-billion-dollar companies, and I just wasn’t enjoying it; I didn’t feel the impact.”
Over the past two years, The Quantum Talent Group has become one of the most influential executive search companies in the tech sector nationwide. Vasquez and his team at The Quantum Talent Group build full executive teams for VC-backed SaaS and Crypto startups, helping them grow into multi-billion-dollar companies.
The lack of vision and impact in corporate recruitment motivated Vasquez to follow his own path and open his executive search company two years ago. He desired to give transformative value to smaller companies and work hand to hand with the next generation of revolutionary entrepreneurs. Since then, Vasquez has supported dozens of startups climb from their early stages to the pinnacle of their industry.
In a recent video interview back in January, Vasquez narrated what motivated him to create The Quantum Talent Group and focus his efforts towards helping tech startups grow.
Vasquez felt that he lacked a transformative purpose in his years in corporate recruitment. During this stage of his career, he had the opportunity to work for multiple Fortune-500 companies. Nonetheless, he perceived that his job added an insignificant incremental value to these companies.
“When a company is public already, they already made it,” said Vasquez. “You can add a little bit of value, but you are not going to make game-changing results for them because they already won.”
When Vasquez conceived the idea of launching The Quantum Talent Group, he desired to work with companies in their early stages. He felt drawn towards the energy and vision within tech startups. His goal was to be a part of the growth of these companies as they build the future.
“I really wanted to work with companies I was inspired by [and] where we could create a real impact,” said Vasquez. “I wanted to work with companies that were in that startup mode and had amazing products that could change the world, at an early enough stage where we could make a big impact.”
In the initial stages of The Quantum Talent Group, Vasquez decided to target SaaS startups. The growth potential of SaaS companies attracted Vasquez to this expanding industry.
“SaaS is a really exciting industry,” explained Vasquez. “I wanted to work with startups, and SaaS happened to be an amazing industry because of its subscription models and the incredible number of opportunities.”
Since the early days of his company working with SaaS startups, Vasquez has committed to being a transformative partner for his clients. This sense of service has been a critical element of The Quantum Talent Group’s business model. The company helps startups build full executive, engineering, and product teams and scale them as they walk their way from series A to exit. Likewise, Vasquez often invests in the startups working with him and defers his company’s fees in exchange for equity.
The Quantum Talent Group has expanded its scope, and nowadays, the company works with startups in the Crypto, productivity, IT, healthcare, and marketing technology sectors. Over the past years, Vasquez and his team have helped scale some of the most renowned emerging software companies nationwide, including ClickUp, Gemini, Quantgene, and Kandji.
Today, Vasquez expresses feeling a renewed sense of fulfillment. His work with tech startups motivates him each morning to get up and help revolutionize the world.
“I always wanted to work with founders of companies who have passion and want to change the world and build the future,” concluded Vasquez. “I wanted to work with those founders and help them build their dreams.”
