The phenomenon of cultural tourism has been out there for decades if not centuries. Our predecessors traveled for art, architecture, textile goods, and exploration. Our contemporaries do so for Instagram, destinations, shopping, and experience. Yet, the question of whether it’s a matter of habit or interest remains unanswered.
NY-based startup ARV driven by the mission to inspire peers to reapproach traveling habits launched the art map for Czechia, named – “CAP” (Czech Art Path).
CAP is a cultural tool for art-curious tourists, which allows travelers to explore nearby galleries and artists’ studios. The main idea behind the project is to redirect traditional tourist flows towards new destinations, aspired by art exploration.
In their announcement, ARV founder Maria Meshcherskaya noted: “CAP is our cultural tribute to Czechia, where we originally have started. It has often saddened us that the beauty of this country ends for many travelers in its capital (Prague) and surroundings, so we wanted to show the full bloom of creative power it has through fascinating artists and galleries we found all over the country”.
As for 2023 CAP has over 200 active galleries, 150 artists’ studios, and a line of special features, helping travelers not to get lost in their creative exploration.
The map has an extension to the art magazine, which includes a series of interviews with Czech Artists, reflecting on Czech history, cultural symbolism, main pillars of the formed tradition, and go-to destinations.
For now, the app is free of charge and available to new members on the arvme.com website.
