“If you stay ready, you never have to get ready.” These words define the mindset of model, Chibuzo “Chibby” Obiefuna who puts his health above everything.
Health equals wealth in Obiefuna’s industry which is why a considerable amount of his day is dedicated to maintaining his physical appearance.
Since he was a child, Chibby Obiefuna has always kept up an athletic lifestyle. From playing soccer to running track, fitness was always important to him, so much so that he highlighted his passion for fitness when seeking a modeling agent.
Today, Obiefuna continues working on his body with an intense workout regimen.
Chibuzos Obiefuna’s workout regimen consists of six days spent in the gym per week. Determined to keep his physical appearance in top shape, Obiefuna works out each muscle group twice over his six-day schedule, and missing a day is not an option. No matter how busy his days are with work, Obiefuna will always set time aside to work on his body.
Obiefuna doesn’t stop at just working on his body. In order to keep himself ready for whatever jobs come his way, Obiefuna likes to maintain a healthy mind and soul.
Chibuzo Obiefuna works on his mind while driving to and from shoots. Los Angeles is known for having bad traffic so his commute can take some time. During this, Obiefuna likes to engage in audiobooks to grow and stimulate his mind.
“I read one book a month thanks to the Audible app,” says Obiefuna.
One book in particular that Obiefuna recommends for keeping him focused on his career and life goals is Greenlight by Matthew McConaughey. He also recommends Winning by Tim Grover.
To keep a healthy relationship with his soul, Obiefuna practices meditation and prayer. He says his faith is important to him and he studies the bible to stay grounded.
Obiefuna recommends the author and life coach Dr. Wayne Dyer. The first book he read from him was Wishes Fulfulled which he found to be impactful.
Working on these three areas individually already has its benefits for Obiefuna’s life and career, but he takes it a step further by connecting the three through a serious diet.
“I think a well-balanced diet is a healthy balance between all three,” says Chubizo Obiefuna.
Being mindful of what he puts into his body, Obiefuna cooks every one of his meals. He cooks the same breakfast every day which consists of Oatmeal with protein granola, three eggs, salmon and whole wheat English muffins. A meal that Chibuzo Obiefuna described as “muy delicioso.”
For lunch, he has fruit salad or a smoothie and he keeps his dinners low in carbs. After completing his workout for the day, Obiefuna cools off with a protein shake.
Lacking a sweet tooth, Obiefuna has no difficulty keeping candy, soda, and other sugary substances out of his diet.
The only time Obiefuna breaks from his diet is on Sundays when he rests from his routine. He allows himself to indulge in whatever he is craving.
“Don’t cheat yourself, treat yourself,” says Chibby Obiefuna, remaining mindful of what he puts into his body even on his rest day.
Relaxation is key to not overworking the body. Sundays are the day for Chibby Obiefuna to be cozy and reset.
Chibuzo Obiefuna’s dedication to the upkeep of his health is inspirational. His connection to his mind, body and soul leaves something for others in his industry to admire.
“I think that’s truly being healthy when all these three factors are in perfect balance,” says Obiefuna.
