You may not know the name Lorenzo or “Loz” Green, but you may have seen the video of a guy surfing in the ocean while carrying a laptop. The plan was to pass the laptop back to the boat, but the guy eventually fell before doing so. If you know that infamous “fail” video that broke viral records, then you know the maverick that continuously shatters digital barriers. What Green did is pure marketing genius– he used this one piece of successful viral content, repurposed it through multiple channels, and wrung it for every possible benefit. He took this failure and turned it into a massive marketing success.
If there were a poster child for doing away with traditional business methods and embracing alternatives, it would be Loz Green. His approach to business epitomizes how taking risks, failing fast, and being completely dedicated to his work are the keys to finding success no matter where he goes.
How It Started
If you had the opportunity to interact with the teen version of Green, you would see him knee-deep in research, teaching himself how to consistently earn online long before it was a buzzword. By 16, Green was helming his first successful entrepreneurial venture as a graphic designer in his native country of New Zealand. One short year later, he turned a gaming hobby into a full-blown income stream and then ventured into the domain flipping market.
His next five years were a whirlwind of success from one digital venture to the next. With a passion to learn every aspect of the online business world, Green left his native New Zealand to attend a domain name conference in the US. This ignited his desire to learn all he could about SEO and specifically Google AdWords. This is where Green quickly found his sweet spot with Google AdWords, and through the use of online communities, he soon found himself earning more like an undergrad than the Prime Minister.
After graduating from university with a degree in E-commerce and digital media design, he gave himself two months to earn a living with his online expertise or accept what he considered to be a “regular” job.
How It’s Going
Loz continues to be a game-changer. To date, he has pioneered 7 successful businesses in various industries, including ad tech, conferences, and education. Heading up a tight-knit team of 130 plus, you still won’t find Green sitting behind a desk. Instead, from the comfort of his home, he continues to create wealth and pursue new opportunities.
Most importantly, he credits his success to being a master of communities. Following on his success from his game forum days, he now hosts the largest marketing forum online. Starting out with just 30 members, Green’s community now includes over 500 like-minded digital marketers. Even the pandemic couldn’t slow Green down. He used that time to pivot his community from in-person events to a massive digital conference and continued to grow like wildfire.
These days, when he is not busy finding new ways to revolutionize online marketing, you will find him in his home base in the Netherlands, most likely playing his daily chess game which he says keeps the creative gears in his head well-oiled and constantly turning.
