The New York Anti Car Theft and Fraud Association (NYACT) was founded to provide training for insurance and law enforcement personnel to combat vehicle crime and insurance fraud in New York. In collaboration with the New York State Chapter of Special Investigation Units, NYACT presented its Annual Joint Fall Conference at the Turning Stone Resort in Verona, N.Y. on October 6, 2023.
NYACT and NYSSIU work together each year to organize several joint trainings throughout New York State. Given the current trends in fraudulent claims and auto crime, it has become more important than ever to equip law enforcement and insurance members with the necessary skills and tactics to not only solve cases and prosecute criminals but also hopefully prevent crimes against the American public.
”These conferences are a great opportunity for Law Enforcement and Insurance professionals to collaborate and discuss the new fraud trends that impact our communities,” commented Nichole Soriano NYACT Board of Directors Chair and Director of Travelers Major Case Unit.
Last year’s annual event focused on training topics related to detecting and fighting insurance and broker fraud. The event was held in person at the popular Turning Stone Resort and Casino venue, and more than 85 insurance personnel and investigators attended. The speakers included Robert Vetrano, Senior Investigator at the New York Automobile Insurance Plan (NYAIP), Harlan R. Schreiber, Partner at Goldberg, Miller & Rubin, and Patrick Kelahan, Senior Building Consultant at H2M.
