This morning, the Wimbish Law Firm announced that Pastor Curtis Bankston will plead guilty to operating an unlicensed personal care home during the pandemic. Attorney Dexter Wimbish added that all other charges against Pastor Bankston have been dropped, and he has been cleared of the allegations of false imprisonment involving six elderly residents who were living in the lower level of his home, part of the Christian-based Second Chance Ministries. Pastor Curtis Bankston will face five years of probation without any jail time.
The case attracted international attention, with one video of local law enforcement discussing the allegations against Pastor Bankston and his wife, Sophia Bankston, going viral.
“It’s important to note that the Bankstons were operating a Christian-based ministry that housed individuals during the pandemic,” said Dexter Wimbish. “We stated from day one that it was about not having a license. The Bankstons’ reputation has been severely damaged, but they are moving forward with a civil suit to seek justice and restore their good name.”
