While Negus Ali is known for his smooth melodies and voice that the fans love dearly, he says he’s getting into acting and has been wanting to be in the movie industry for quite some time but didn’t know when he wanted to make this transition, so we sat down with the rising star to talk about it.
When did you decide to get into acting?
I’ve always wanted to act since I was a child, and just watching movies was a little different for me. I would always imagine myself playing the roles I liked the most I would recite the words with the people on the screen, lol. But I have also had this undying passion for music. Music was always first. It was natural to me.
What roles were your favorite, and what are some of your favorite movies?
Well, Menace II Society, Boyz n the Hood, The Wood, also New Jack City, and other movies as well, which are different from those mentioned, but you know I don’t want to play a specific character and only be known as that type of actor, I want to work on my craft and become as versatile as possible you know?
That’s very understandable, so is it hard for you to try and juggle both music and acting?
Nah, not really I’m fully committed to music because this is what I do first. The acting thing is sort of like, okay, I want to train work on the craft, learn everything there is to learn about acting, you know, become a student to the craft. I am the kind of person that, once I get interested in something, I go for it correctly, learn about it, and study other legends before me. And drown myself in that realm, you know, so, for now, I’m just working on the craft.
Haha, yes, of course, it makes sense. Who are some of your favorite actors?
Denzel Washington, Martin Lawrence, Eddie Murphy, the kings ummm Will Smith, it’s a lot of them. The whole industry is full of greatness,
